Trash Talking
On September 25, 2008, in support of the TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, an intrepid group of McDonnell Hayners (led by Eddie, their fearless furry mascot) tackled the popular Sunnyside area shoreline, spanning from Ellis Avenue to Parkside Drive. Armed with rubber gloves, tongs and a rake, the group set off to rid the shoreline of hundreds of plastic cigar tips (who knew so many people still smoked Colts?!), plastic spoons, Styrofoam cups, five condoms and a car fender, among other bits of garbage (the archaeologists of the future won't have much to look forward to in their finds!). The group collected three large bags in total and then went off to a nearby bar to revel in their keenness and greenness.
So what was the one thing this group learned from this event? Picking up garbage can be fun and is a much more constructive team-building event than bowling.
They also discovered that baggy T-shirts on dogs are not practical.
